Meet the Staff

The Julius Chambers Marching Band is a highly respected Marching Band established in 2021, made up of a selection of highly talented individuals brought together by a deep passion for performance and music. Joseph T. Wilson

Director of Bands

Mr. Joseph T. Wilson is a native of Charlotte, N.C. and a 2003 alum of Zebulon B. Vance High School. Mr. Wilson is married to Mrs. Ashley Wilson who is a native of Clarks Hill, SC. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson have two sons, Jazari and Ashton. 

 

Mr. Wilson is entering into his thirteenth year of teaching instrumental music. For the first eleven years of his teaching career, Mr. Wilson served as the Director of Bands for the McCormick County School District located in McCormick, SC. Mr. Wilson  received his bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Winthrop University located in Rock Hill, S.C. While attending Winthrop University and studying the tuba which is his major instrument, Mr. Wilson has performed in numerous engagements with music ensembles such as the Winthrop Tuba Choir, Screamin’ Eagle Pep Band, and Winthrop University Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band. In all of the listed music ensembles, Mr. Wilson never sat below the second chair which is a high honor in the band arena. Mr. Wilson has also worked with many distinguished band programs in South Carolina while attending Winthrop University. Mr. Wilson served as the Low Brass Instructor for both South Pointe High School located in Rock Hill, S.C. and York Comprehensive high school located in York, S.C. He has also worked closely with Sullivan Middle School, Northwestern High School, and Rock Hill High School which are all located in Rock Hill, S.C. In addition to being a Band Director, Mr. Wilson has also served as Minister of Music for churches throughout South Carolina. Mr. Wilson is a member of the National Association for Music Educators, North Carolina Showstyle Band Directors Association, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. In May 2015, Mr. Wilson was named the McCormick Middle School Teacher of the Year and has also won numerous Teacher of the Month Awards at both McCormick Middle and McCormick High School. In 2018, Mr. Wilson was named both the McCormick High School Teacher of the Year and won the overall District Teacher of the Year Award as well!  Mr. Wilson's favorite quote is the bible verse, 2nd Thessalonians 3:10 which paraphrased says that "A man that doesn't work, doesn't eat." Besides being an educator and musician, Mr. Wilson's greatest gift is being able to be a loving husband and father to his wife and children!

Lynne Osborne

Flag Instructor

Ms. Lynne Osborne is originally from Charlotte, NC. She attended Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC as an Accounting major and currently works full time as an analyst in the banking industry. Including participation with church and local community organizations, she has over 15 years of flag/color guard experience with 6 years of experience participating in marching band. programs. Ms. Lynne took full time leadership over the Royal Silk flag line in 2015 and became the flag instructor for the JCHS Auxiliary team in 2021. Although band is a passion of hers she also loves being a mom and participating in various extra curricular activities with her energetic 4 year old Skyler.

Aliyah Walthall

Dance Instructor

Miss Aliyah Walthall: A Charlotte native, she began her dancing career at BB Dance Productions when she was five years old. She danced for thirteen consecutive years at BB winning multiple first overall group awards. She graduated from Garinger High School and attended The Illustrious North Carolina Central University where she obtained her Bachelor's of Science. During her fours years of college, she was a member of the Lovely Ladies of eClipse, a dance and majorette ensemble, for the Sound Machine Marching Band for two consecutive years. She was also a member of NCCU’s Repertory Dance Company. In the near future she plans to further pursue her dance career. She is excited to share the expertise she’s gained and excited to be a part of the JCMB Family!

Briajah Knight

Assistant Flag and Dance Instructor

Miss Briajah Knight also known as Coach K teaches English at Julius Chambers High School. Coach K is a graduate of North Carolina A&T. Coach K has danced since she was 4 years old. Coach K also served as captain of her high school dance line for three years. While attending North Carolina A&T, Coach K served as the Dance Coach for Royal Dynasty Inc. specializing in jazz, majorette, contemporary, and hip hop dance. Coach K is excited to be a part of the JCMB family and is always available when any assistance is needed!
